Pau
(Palma de Mallorca, Spain, 1972) is a comics author, illustrator, graphic humorist, and editor.
He began his career in high school, publishing numerous short stories in various fanzines. From 1996 to 2009, he wrote and drew the daily current-affairs humor strip Pau per tots (winner of the Haxtur award for humor in 2009) for the Diario de Mallorca, which he has continued weekly ever since, also for Mallorca Zeitung.
Since 2004, he has published his short comics in the Belgian magazine Spirou, and his Saga de Atlas & Axis (2011-2016) has been published to date in twelve languages in more than fifteen countries across three continents.
However, international success has not provided sufficient financial stability to keep creating comics, so he opened a Patreon account for his most loyal readers and launched the publishing house Escápula to publish his work directly.
In 2020, he won the Ciutat de Palma comic award for his work Curtiss Hill, which was immediately published in Spanish, Catalan, English, French, and Dutch.
In addition to teaching comic workshops in schools and institutes, he has written and illustrated several books on learning to draw.
He is currently working on his next graphic novel, Las cinco banderas, a richly documented true story based on the extraordinary memoirs of his grandfather, Vicente Jiménez-Bravo, during the Spanish Civil War and World War II under five flags. You can see how he does it at www.patreon.com/Pau
