Making of Atlas & Axis en directo (1).
Así empieza una página de Atlas & Axis. Del guión escrito -en este caso sólo pone «una página de viaje por diferentes paisajes» o algo así- se pasa a unos pequeños bocetillos a boli Bic, para decidir cuántas viñetas tendrá la página, de qué forma y tamaño, y qué encuadre tendrán los dibujos. En esta fase se consulta también la documentación que sea necesaria.
Enseguida se pasa al papel de dibujo, a un tamaño aproximadamente un 30% mayor que lo que luego se imprimirá. Se usa lápiz azul por no emborronar tanto el papel -al entintar queda más claro qué está entintado y qué no- y porque así no es necesario borrarlo antes de escanear.

This is how an Atlas & Axis’ Saga ( I’m sorry, there isn’t any English edition yet) page begins. The script for this sequence only says ‘one page of journey through different landscapes’. I make very small sketches with a ball pen just to decide how many panels and their shape and size, and composition. I also look for documentation if needed.
Then I use a blue pencil to draw the original, about 30% bigger than the publication size. I don’t need a very detailed pencil, so the blue pencil is better for me because the page is cleaner when I ink, and also you don’t need to erase it to scan only the ink.
